"Stuff is Not Salvation" by Anna Quindlen

Anna's purpose for writing "Stuff is Not Salvation" was to show how our society has been put into debt by mass over consumption. She illustrates how our society under appreciates what we have due to over buying and over spending on things that are wanted and not needed. Anna's solution to the problem of out of control consumption seemed to be instead of over consuming be more appreciative of what and who you have in your life, also put your money into your true needs instead of wants. I think we are all victims of buying things we do not need, but want.

For example, I have hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars of clothes, shoes and accessories that I do not need per say. Perhaps if I had spent that money on bills and school, I would not be in dept and have graduated already. Many times I buy shirts or pants I only wear once. Instead of buying more clothes I do not need, I could be spending that money on something like my education that would end up playing me back. If our society spent more money on needs we would end up prospering more, being less in debt and living more fulfilling, appreciative lives.

Introduction/Bio

Hello I'm Oscar Maldonado

This is my first quoter at The Art Institute of Sacramento. I use to live in Southern California I plan on moving back one day but for now I'm starting fresh here in Northern California. I will say I miss having the beach as my back yard and being able to skim-board was my daily thing to do. One thing I wont miss is being stuck in TRAFFIC. Going for a degree and putting all my focus in school will only pay off in the long run.

I'll be back sooner then expected.
